Drawings from Majorca 2012

I've recently returned from a short trip to Majorca.I'm always really inspired to draw the light and colour whenever I've been there.However I realised that when I'm drawing when I'm away like this I seem to not really tune into the colour properly  until the end of my trip which is normally when I do my best pictures.The picture of the pool above was the last one I did on my trip just before heading to the airport.I was trying to make the colour light ,luminous and the brushwork quick and spontaneous.For me I think colour benefits from lively brushwork.

along with this one which was done there also.When it comes to drawing bright colours I'm thinking perhaps a rested brain sees colours better?

I did these two one right at the start of my trip and I think the colour is not quite right and perhaps a bit garish.They were drawn from a friend's house in the countryside outside Palma  where I stayed for most of my trip.

The view from where I stayed looks right over a valley full of brightly coloured villas.

I enjoyed watching the colour of the light change during the day.
